Community Collection and Co-processing of Mixed Plastics in Central Luzon, Philippines (PPRS)
Community Collection and Co-processing of Mixed Plastics in Central Luzon, Philippines (PPRS)
This project partner works with aggregators who buy post consumer plastic from waste pickers in the informal waste sector in the Philippines, to ensure the collection and responsible processing of low value post consumer plastics, especially in Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Cavite, and Metro Manila.
They also partner with various local governments in solid waste management, helping reduce the amount of waste brought to landfills or, worse, thrown into waterways. The low value plastics they collect are then processed and sold to different co-processors as alternative fuel, reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels and raw materials.
Credits will help this partner expand plastic waste collection programs, and purchase more low-value plastic waste that might be otherwise passed over by waste pickers or recyclers.
